How to evaluate research performance and efficiency of S&T activities? An attempt to find response on these and related questions was undertaken by the participants of the roundtable "Monitoring Economics of Science: Main Results and Development Prospects" that was organized by the HSE ISSEK at the 2nd day of the XIV April Conference.

At Foresight frequency: broadcasting signals from the future

International scientific conference Foresight: Innovative Answers to Global Challenges, organised jointly with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), was held at the Higher School of Economic on 18-19 October, 2012. For Russian long-term futures research experts, it was a major venue for discussing promising areas of future-oriented studies.

Exploring Knowledge-Intensive Business Services

The book includes the articles "KIBS and Knowledge Dynamics is Client–Supplier Interaction" by Ian Miles and "How Knowledge-Intensive Business Services Upgrade their Customers: Evidence from Russia" by Marina Doroshenko.

The Global Innovation Index 2012: Stronger Innovation Linkages for Global Growth

INSEAD has published the report "The Global Innovation Index 2012: Stronger Innovation Linkages for Global Growth" which focuses on better understanding innovation and identifying good practices of innovation policy. One of its chapters is prepared by Leonid Gokhberg (first vice-rector, HSE, and director, HSE ISSEK) and Vitaliy Roud (research fellow, Laboratory for Economics of Innovation, HSE ISSEK). It presents an analysis of Russian innovation system accompanied by an overview of domestic state science, technology and innovation (STI) policy practice.

The article "Regional balance of technology transfer and innovation in transitional economy: empirical evidence from Russia"  by Dirk Meissner (Laboratory for Science and Technology Studies, HSE ISSEK) and Stanislav Zaichenko (Laboratory for Economics of Innovation, HSE ISSEK) is published in the "International Journal of Transitions and Innovation Systems".

S&T co-operation between the EU-Russia: status and prospects

Programme’s project ERA.Net RUS took place in the Austrian Ministry of Science and Research. A wide range of issues was discussed at the meeting, including results of the pilot joint competitions for Science and Innovation, protection of intellectual property created within the framework of joint projects, measures to increase effectiveness of scientific co-operation, etc.. Representatives of the EU evaluated effectiveness  of the pilot competitions and came out with recommendations for improving the competitive procedures.
